StackTrim does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There is no account, no
sign-in, and no analytics. It collects no data of any kind.
What the extension stores
The only data the extension keeps is the stack you are auditing: the tool names, the job category
you choose for each, the seat counts, the costs and billing periods, the renewal dates, the owner
names and the notes you type. It is saved in your browser’s local extension storage so your work
survives closing the tab. It never leaves your device.
What the extension sends
Nothing. StackTrim makes no network requests. It has no server, no telemetry, no error reporting,
and no third-party code that phones home. You can confirm this: the extension requests a single
permission, storage, and no host or network permissions of any kind.
Payment and financial data
StackTrim records what a tool costs, never how you pay for it. There is no field anywhere in the
extension for a card number, a bank detail, an invoice, or a password, and the extension connects
to no bank, no billing system and no accounting system. It reads figures you type and does
arithmetic on them. Do not put payment details in the notes field.
The extension gives no financial, tax or investment advice. Its output is a planning draft for you
to review, not an accounting record.
What you control
- Clearing the stack, or your browser’s extension storage, removes the stored data.
- Uninstalling the extension removes its stored data.
- Anything you export is written to your own device by your own browser, and is sent nowhere.
Data collection disclosure (Firefox)
The Firefox build declares data_collection_permissions: { required: ["none"] }, a formal
statement to Mozilla that the extension collects no data.
